Alphabets

“Experimental” is generally a term I try to avoid when describing electronic music – it’s about as cliche as “indie,” right? But in the case of Mile High electronic outfit Alphabets, it feels like a good fit – Colin Ward mixes glitchy noises with compelling beats and found sounds to make thoughtful, urgent music that moves you inside and out.
Alphabets was nurtured in the incredibly vital Rhinoceropolis scene – a hotbed of all things creative and DIY in DenCo music – and has emerged as a rising talent. Since 2009, Colin has populated his Bandcamp page with more than two dozen releases, through which his development as an artist can easily be traced. From his danceable beginnings to the more sophisticated cut and paste of his recent work, this is an artist in increasing command of his gifts, and we’re so glad we’re getting to know him now!
Give a listen to the JEANJETS EP below, read Colin’s Questionnaire, and then join us on Friday at Meadowlark when Alphabets kicks off the 12 Questions Anniversary Party! We can’t wait to hear what happens.
