Our friends at CowboyPoetry.com started the celebration, and in 2003 the United States Senate passed a resolution recognizing the Cowboy Poetry Week celebration. Twenty-two states’ governors and other officials have recognized Cowboy Poetry Week since, and many activities take place in communities across the West and beyond.
We’re celebrating Cowboy Poetry Week here at 12 Questions by featuring some contemporary artists that keep the spirit of cowboy poetry alive, including cowboy poets Rod Miller, Amy Hale Auker, and Jessica Hedges, and longtime editor John C. Dofflemyer.
